Project Profile: Former Automobile Dealership

The owners of an automobile dealership moved their business to a new, larger site after 25 years of operation in that location in Maine. The property owners sought out St.Germain Collins to assist them as they considered the possible sale of the property. Experienced senior environmental engineers and scientists were successful in taking the project from identification of recognized environmental conditions through to liability protection through the Maine DEP Voluntary Response Action Program (VRAP). Summary of actions included:

  • Phase I and II site assessments
  • Residential well survey
  • Stream sediment sampling
  • VRAP Certificate of Completion

Phase II Environmental Site Assessment

The results of the Phase II Environmental Site Assessment, which comprised soil borings and soil, stream sediment and groundwater sampling, indicated that the shallow soil and groundwater at certain portions of the site were impacted by residual petroleum related compounds.

Residential Well Survey

St.Germain Collins conducted a residential well survey and determined that no private water supply wells were located within a 1,000 foot radius of the site.

Voluntary Response Action Program

As part of the Voluntary Response Action Program, St.Germain Collins recommended and oversaw the completion of removal and disposal of limited petroleum-impacted soils, drums, tanks (and their contents), appliances, tires and metal debris.
