Environmental Health & Safety Specialist
St.Germain Collins has an immediate employment opening for a full-time Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to support our EHS Department Staff and assist with client needs including safety inspections, chemical inventories environmental reporting and plan writing. Knowledge of Tier II reporting, Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) reporting and Maine Air Emissions Inventory Reporting System (MAIRIS) preferred. This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain significant experience in the field of environmental, health and safety working with experienced EHS professionals in industry settings.
The EHS Specialist will work under the supervision of company Project Managers to provide clients with technical EHS support; and will routinely work at client facilities performing tasks as directed by the client. As such, strong verbal and written communication skills are required in order to ensure effective communication between the EHS Specialist, Project Manager and client. The individual in this position will demonstrate a high degree of resourcefulness, integrity, and professionalism in working with colleagues and clients.
While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is often required to sit or stand for extended periods of time, walk (at times over uneven surfaces and/or in inclement weather), reach with arms and hands, and stoop or kneel. At times, lifting of equipment weighing up to 50 pounds may be required. Work environments range from office to industrial indoor settings to outdoors in all weather conditions. Personal protective equipment/clothing are routinely required. Local travel using a personal vehicle may be necessary (mileage is reimbursed).
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in civil engineering.
- 1-3 years of experience in EHS or related environment
- Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Engineering, Environmental Science or other science related field
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in current versions of MS Office
- Strong technical writing, organizational, verbal and written communication, and presentation skills
- Self-motivated, action-oriented, and strong inter-personal skills
- Valid US Driver’s License
